Birth Chart Reading
The birth chart is the map of the sky at the moment that you were born, at the place you were born. It is a map of a unique moment in time. Astrologers believe that each of us is potentially an expression of the particular qualities of that moment. However much of our potential is hidden under layers of habit and social conditioning. A birth chart reading can help you to look at the potentials inherent in your horoscope and decide whether you are using them in ways which serve you or ways which don’t. Astrology helps you to understand some of your more hidden motivations and behaviour patterns and sheds light on the possible causes, which gives you the freedom to make choices about the most constructive ways forward for us as an individual.
A 90 minute birth chart reading might address these questions
* How can I make best use of my potential at my current stage of life?
* What sort of work or career will give me satisfaction (or prosperity?)
* How can I better understand my relationship needs?
* I’m struggling with a particular behaviour pattern. Can you shed any light on it?
Current Life Issues
He loli ‘ole, Ke ‘alo a’e, He paio koho. Changes are inevitable, struggle is an option.
Everything changes. But sometimes we find ourselves in the middle of experiences which our previous experiences leave us wholly unprepared for. Astrology can’t tell us why things happen as they do; that is a question for priests and theologians, not astrologers. However it can help us to see what is so more clearly, and therefore give us some kind of choice and freedom about how we respond to the situation we find ourselves in, rather than seeing ourselves as somebody’s victim or at the mercy of events. If we are in the middle of an inner winter, it can encourage us that spring is on the way. If we face a daunting challenge in our relationships or our home or work life, it can point to ways to respond with wisdom, courage and dignity.
People often choose to visit an astrologer at the time of major life transition points, such as:
* The birth of a child
* Bereavement
* The beginning or end of an important relationship
* A new job, or losing a job
Moving to another part of the country, or somewhere else on the planet
* A sense of being mired in conflict about a particular problem
* Feeling lost and without direction
The opportunity to assist people to achieve clarity in these situations is a great privilege of our work as astrologers.
Relationship Analysis
In relationship astrology, or synastry, we use a series of different methods. These are equally useful for romantic relationships, business partnerships, or any other kind of one to one link.
Please note: we only look at relationships between consenting adults – and need the written permission of both partners to work with just one.
One central technique is the analysis of the two birth charts, where we look at the conscious and less conscious motivations and needs of both partners, and how these may fit together. Of course, relationships defy generalisation. Do differences attract or repel? Through projection, can similarities lead to major tension.
Another part of a synastry reading is to focus on the interactions of the two charts: do these people like each other? Are they attracted? How might one unconsciously affect the other? Are their value systems similar or different?
A third element is the composite chart, which is drawn up looking at the midpoints of the two birth charts, relocated for the place where the relationship is happening. The composite chart is an amazing thing: the planetary combinations it represents never actually existed in the sky. They only come into being because this relationship happens. The composite symbolises the meaning of the relationship, and its potential. And of course composite charts are equally subject to the changing tides of planetary influence through transits which symbolise the changing nature of the relationship.
